Let's say it out loud: New York is expensive. Every year, it gets a little more expensive. Manhattan and the best parts of Brooklyn are where everyone wants to be, from students to creatives to people who just landed a dream job. So everyone competes for the same apartments.
And the rent is only the start. A traditional apartment means a first month and a deposit up front, application fees, sometimes a broker, then buying a bed, a couch and a table. You set up electricity, gas and internet in your own name, then argue with a roommate about who forgot to pay. Hotels and Airbnb look easier, until you add the nightly rates, the cleaning fees and the service fees, and the bill for a few months is more than a lease.
We built Roomrs because people deserve a simpler way to live in the city: a fully furnished room, in a home that works from day one, at a price you can understand.
Most rentals bury costs in the fine print. We would rather you know what you are paying for before you apply. So here is how it works.
It is more than a room. It is a home. Think of it like a good Airbnb you can stay in for months, without the nightly-rate math.

Your monthly price includes one flat utility fee. It covers gas, electricity and fast WiFi, and everything is set up and ready when you arrive.
What that saves you, compared with renting an apartment on your own:

Every listing shows the full breakdown. It has four parts:
After that, rent is due on the 1st of each month. There is no broker fee.

Rooms start at a 3-month stay. Full apartments can start at 1 month. If your plans change, you can transfer to another room or leave early. Those options come with fees that depend on your membership level, and your lease lists them.
Things that can add to your cost: damage beyond normal wear, and late payments.
